About Me

I'm a seasoned educator with a passion for teaching and over 25 years of experience in both public and private schools, specifically in all levels of physics. After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, I decided to switch gears. I continued on to study at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and graduated with a Masters in Instructional Systems Design.

I kicked off my teaching career in Frederick County Public Schools (Maryland) where I taught high school physics and introductory physical science before moving on to Montgomery County (Maryland). While at a top-notch public high school in Rockville, I began teaching higher levels of physics.  At the third, and final, school (The Peddie School) where I taught I ran the Advanced Placement Physics program for 16 years and my students earned an average score of 4.7/5.0 on the AP Physics C Mechanics and AP Physics C Electricity & Magnetism exams given by College Board.  That score of 4.7/5.0 is based on all of my students taking the exam at the end of the school year (a total of 362 student tests taken during my tenure at Peddie).

When my school shifted to a virtual platform at the beginning of the pandemic, I quickly fine-tuned my teaching skills and discovered that it is possible to connect with students through a computer screen. I also learned that the virtual environment enables me to reach students from different geographical areas who are looking for extra help with their physics studies - so Physics With Marty took off!

In addition to teaching physics, I enjoy spending time with my wife and adult children, running on the beach, biking, playing soccer and learning Spanish.

Highlights!
